Photoshop Elements Tutorial – How To Make A Jigsaw Picture

Posted on 12. Oct, 2009 by admin in Elements Tutorials, Elements Video Tutorials, free photoshop elements tutorials, online photoshop elements tutorials, photoshop elements tutorials

photoshop elements tutorial.jpgMyriad tools and elements of the most easy-to-use photo editing software, Adobe elements, have upgraded the canvas of photography to a full-time profession from a mere hobby. Its vast features allow you to conduct all possible enhancement techniques to beautify your casual looking picture to a gorgeous and larger than life picture. One of the recent techniques that have gained immense popularity among photographers is the feature of creating a jigsaw picture from your existing picture using Adobe elements.

Check out this Photoshop Elements tutorial on how to create a jig saw picture out of your original picture:

1.Open your current picture in the editing program. Click on to the option, "Filter" to select Texturise and click on the option of load texture on the list.  You will find the option of puzzle texture from the parent load texture option. This will open a texture editing box with your original picture transformed into the jigsaw format. Now, you can increase or decrease the percentage of scaling to accordingly adjust the pieces. Increasing makes the pieces bigger which helps you to easily carry changes in the picture. It is advisable to set your scaling percentage at 150 % to create more manageable pieces.

2.Now click, Control +A to select the entire image. Cut and copy that image to a new layer by clicking on the icon layers palette and paste. You will see that a new layer has appeared with your picture on it on a new white background.

3.Now increase the canvas size by 20 %- 30 % so that a huge canvas gets spread around on a large layer. This can be done by clicking on image, then on resize option and then on canvas size. Change the size accordingly.

4.Now pull the image from the edges to change it to the shape of a jigsaw. This can be done by clicking on the option of Select image, then transform and then skew to adjust the picture.

5.Next, draw several pieces on the jigsaw picture using Magnetic Lasso. Now cut and paste each selection in a new layer. Then, directly move each piece out of the jigsaw using Move tool. Rotate these pieces so that they give a scattered appeal. This new picture that you get is almost complete unless you want to enhance its appeal by adding a human element to it.

6.To add a personal or human touch to the picture, click your hand with your thumb and index finger positioned in way that it looks like you’re holding something. Shoot this picture on a background with a neutral color.  Cut and copy this picture.

7.Paste this picture on your jigsaw and resize it accordingly so that it looks like natural puzzle. Using an eraser, rub the background encompassing your hand. Use the brushes to remove the edges and make it a look more smooth and easy to flow.

8.Now take a picture of a jigsaw and place it in between your thumb and index finger. Rub out the extra background and edges. Regroup the hand and the layer of puzzle piece using move tool.

Adobe Photoshop Elements Video Tutorial Explores Setting Your Photos Straight Using Adobe Elements

Posted on 07. Sep, 2009 by admin in Elements Tutorials, Elements Video Tutorials, online photoshop elements tutorials

creations2.jpgIf your photos are crooked or were scanned into your computer at an angle you don’t need to toss them out. Instead, use Adobe Elements to quickly and easily straighten them out again. Here is an adobe photoshop elements tutorial that reveals how you can use Adobe Elements to straighten your crooked or tilted photo.

Two of the main tools you will use include the measure tool and the crop tool. We use the measure tool to define the level of the picture and straighten it. This is done by selecting the measure tool from the menu and clicking on the background of your photo and dragging it in a straight line to the other end. Doing this sets the level of your photo. Using this tool you can also level items such as roof lines as well as shelves or anything that should be in a straight line. Next you want to select the rotate canvas option to rotate the image and fix it on the canvas. You should see the canvas expanding to match the size of your photo. Finally you will want to use the crop tool to cut the extra unwanted edges.

When you use the crop tool you have the option of cropping and straightening at the same time. To use the crop tool you will want to select it and click and hold your mouse, creating a rectangle around the part of the photo that you wish to keep. You will want to position the horizontal edge on the horizontal line to set the level of the image. Again, you may be wanting to fix a roof line or an edgy shelf instead of a horizon which needs to be fixed in a perfect horizontal position. Now you want to drag the marquee so that its edge merges with the horizon line. This is done to align the edge to a horizontal position.

After you have fixed one edge repeat the steps to align the rest of the edges. Please note however that if you want to fix vertical lines on your image you do not want to align them with vertical borders. To correct these you want to use the ‘perspective’ option available in the option bar. The perspective option allows you to correct the vertical lines by fixing the corners of the boundary meant to be cropped to the right perspective. Make sure to keep all the corners in the assigned document.

While the perspective element is not immediately available with Photoshop Elements it can be activated by converting the chosen background into a layer by double clicking on the background. With the rise in the popularity of digital cameras also comes the increased amount of tilted and crooked photos. They usually occur when the photographer clicks the shutter while keeping the camera straight and looking at the back screen. This has the tendency to distort the photo by making it disproportionate. With these tips you no longer need to take 4-5 of the same shots of the same subject. Repetition not only wastes your camera’s battery but the memory as well. Easily rid yourself of tilted photos with the amazing tools included inside Adobe Elements.
